We like to say carpeted floor matts are better than nothing. It's better than your carpets or floorboards getting beat up by daily wear and tear. However they aren't the best option. If carpeted floor matts get wet or a spill happens on them then they can soak through and penetrate the carpets/floor boards of your vehicle. So imagine your kiddo spilling their drink onto the floor matts, it's going to be so much liquid that the floor matt absorbs what it can and then it goes through to the carpets and then the carpets start absorbing the leftover liquid. Which is the opposite of what you want. Carpeted floor mats also hold onto dirt and pet hair very well. Which of course is better than it going in your carpets but it is harder to clean versus other options.

If a spill happens all you would have to do is remove the floor matt carefully and toss the liquid or vacuum it with a shopvac.
